Through his artistic activity, the talented Andrei Petre has established himself as one of the active young tenors of the Romanian lyrical scene, with a career built on solid repertoire, constant presence on major national stages, and a growing international profile.
Education
Andrei Petre is a Romanian tenor and a soloist of the National Opera of Bucharest. He graduated from the National University of Music in Bucharest, completing both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Classical Singing in 2019 and 2021, under the guidance of Professor Ionel Voineag.
Following his university studies, he was selected as a scholarship holder of the international programme Internationale OpernWerkstatt – Festival der jungen Stimmen in Switzerland, where he worked with renowned conductors and stage directors and further developed his stage experience.
Work
He made his debut at the National Opera of Bucharest in 2022 as Ismaele in Verdi’s Nabucco. In 2023, he was invited to the Romanian National Opera in Cluj-Napoca to perform the role of Arturo in Bellini’s I Puritani. At the National Opera of Bucharest, he regularly performs leading roles from the Italian and German lyric repertoire, including Alfredo (La Traviata), Duke of Mantua (Rigoletto), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Rodolfo (La Bohème), Tebaldo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi), and Tamino (Die Zauberflöte).
His concert activity has brought him into collaboration with the leading Romanian philharmonic orchestras, among them the George Enescu Philharmonic Orchestra of Bucharest, as well as the philharmonics of Ploiești, Brașov, Iași, Bacău, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Craiova, and Timișoara. In parallel, he has appeared internationally in major European cultural centres such as Vienna (Musikverein), Zurich, Bern, Basel, and Naples.
His repertoire also includes major symphonic-vocal works such as Verdi’s Requiem, Mozart’s Requiem and Coronation Mass, Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis and Symphony No. 9, and Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle. Alongside his stage activity, he continues to expand his repertoire through the study of roles such as Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly) and Lensky (Eugene Onegin).
Competitions
During his artistic training, he participated in numerous national and international vocal competitions, receiving important distinctions, including the Grand Prize of the “Paul Constantinescu” National Singing Competition (2018), the Award for Best Young Performer at the National Romanian Lied Competition (2019), and the Grand Prize of the “Ionel Perlea” International Singing Competition (2025).
